Playing Catch-Up
For the past 9 months I completely fell off the wagon with updating this blog and keeping up with my Industry Essentials course, so now that I have much more free time I'm getting back into the swing of things. I was so busy working on my newest collection (Immaculate), getting to and from runway rehearsals/castings/fittings, and doing photo shoots that I unintentionally put this on hold for a bit.
Here's a brief summary of what I've been up to since January, at least:
Right now, I'm in the process of making a post for Immaculate and the inspiration behind the collection (which will probably be up sometime at the end of this week), catching up on my Fashion Industry Essentials course, planning out some RTW pieces to start selling, brainstorming/designing another NEW collection to incorporate even more upcycling (no rest for the wicked), and also typing this up while getting ready for the Kate Nash concert tonight...
My goal is to be posting here at least once or twice a month from now on so check any of my social media pages for updates! I'll also be posting about the Fashion Industry Essentials course I'm (still) taking!
Here's a brief summary of what I've been up to since January, at least:
- Started the year off fresh after quitting the part-time job I had been at for almost 5 years
- Created a new 10 piece collection (Immaculate)
- Did my first Fashion Week show with Fashion Week Rhode Island
- Did a charity show benefitting Boston's Alliance of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Youth with Finding Hope With Fashion (which was an all around awesome experience and I got to meet and work with a bunch of talented local designers and models)
- Showed at Bentley University's annual fashion show hosted by their Black United Body again
- Collaborated with lots of different photographers, models, makeup artists, hair stylists on TONS of creative photo shoots (if you follow me on Instagram, you've probably already seen photos from these shoots: @kaitlynkileydesigns)
- Did an interview for the Boston Globe's My Instagram feature, which you can check out here
- And on a more personal level: trying to read more books, reviving my social life, and hanging out with my favorite puppy <3
