Seeing Stars - Style Story

This summer I'm taking the Parsons x Teen Vogue Fashion Industry Essentials class to strengthen my knowledge in other areas of the Fashion Industry rather than just solely in designing. I've decided to incorporate some of the assignments from the class into posts for this blog so I can kind of post here more often rather than just making posts about runway shows I do. I'm more of a designer than anything and have never really tried out blogging or styling, so bear with me on this.

The first course section of the class is "Unlocking Visual Style", where you learn to create a "style story" and learn about developing visual style. One of the first assignments was to create a mood board out of pictures with an aesthetic that ties together. I decided to go with the boho witch type of style, as you can see in my mood board here (broken into 3 separate pieces for better viewing purposes).

After creating the mood board, the next part of the assignment was to create my own image with styling that reflected the images/theme/aesthetic from that mood board. For the actual assignment, I only had to submit one picture and post it to instagram, but for this post I'm going to share the 3 pictures I had narrowed my choices down to (after editing them all in Afterlight to give them some better aesthetic effects).

*This is also the exact same outfit I wore to a Stevie Nicks concert back in November, so I figured it would work out for these ~*~witchy vibes~*~ photos.

This is only one of the first assignments I've completed and this isn't the type of thing I usually do, so I'm hoping that as I go through the course and develop my skills I'll get better at things like this. I actually really enjoyed this assignment, (even though I felt extremely awkward having a dramatically posed photo shoot in my backyard) and I might try to do some more "style stories" like this in the future. I'm also going to be making another blog post about the other style story assignment I had to do for the course and then a post that will basically be an overview of what I thought of the "Unlocking Visual Style" section.
